Simply Unpredictable

This poem is a parody of the 1988 song “Simply Irresistible” by Robert Palmer. I have borrowed some words and phrases from the song for my poem because they worked well with the theme of my poem. This poem is about a scientist who has made an earth-shaking, revolutionary discovery. He has found an important anomaly in his experimental results. He doesn’t know where his discovery will lead, but he knows that the world is no longer predictable according to the old model.

How can it be admissible?
It upturns every principle
This kind of data’s mythical
The results are so atypical

The data’s out of range
The results are so strange
I have to retest because
It’s such a big change

The world once made sense to me
But now I find it
Simply unpredictable
Simply unpredictable

The data is so powerful
It’s simply unavoidable
The trend is irreversible
The graph is unbelievable

It breaks the natural law
And it leaves me in awe
I deserve the applause
I’m a genius because

The world once made sense to me
But now I find it
Simply unpredictable
Simply unpredictable

Simply unpredictable
(It’s so wild, I can’t believe my eyes)
Simply unpredictable
(It’s all mine, I’ll win the Nobel Prize)

It’s unavoidable
I’m walking down the hall
It gives me emotions
That I never felt before
I’m overturning theories
I’m breaking every law

Simply unpredictable
(It’s so wild, I can’t believe my eyes)
Simply unpredictable
(It’s all mine, I’ll win the Nobel Prize)

My methods are repeatable
The proof is irrefutable
It was completely inadmissible
But now it’s irreversible

The data’s out of range
The results are so strange
I have to retest because
It’s such a big change

The world once made sense to me
But now I find it
Simply unpredictable
Simply unpredictable

Simply unpredictable
(It’s so wild, I can’t believe my eyes)
Simply unpredictable
(It’s all mine, I’ll win the Nobel Prize)
Simply unpredictable
(It’s so wild, I can’t believe my eyes)
Simply unpredictable
(It’s all mine, I’ll win the Nobel Prize)
